The Founder.
So, who’s behind the POP UP GIRLS?
Our founder Maddy McGlennon launched THE POP UP GIRLS in the first UK lockdown in April 2020. Having studied a foundation in Fashion & Textiles at Central Saint Martins and completing a BA in Textile Design at Chelsea College of Art & Design, Maddy saw a gap in the industry that welcomes all creatives that identify as female and have a passion for sustainability and gender empowerment.
Maddy is the founder and creative director of her own independent label, Maddy Madison. The brand encapsulates a persona of activism with punchy ionic designs and bandanas with a socio-political message. “It's a silent protest” says Maddy, who donates a percentage of her profits to a charity that reflects each bandana’s individual aesthetic.
In today's world of retail, emerging brands are faced with a constant struggle for spotlight. Having spent her weekends trading at Truman Brewery Backyard Market on Brick Lane and Neil Market in London Fields, Maddy recognised and became a part of the a community that is independent designing and shopping small. With this in mind, the POP UP GIRLS was created to provide a platform to young, emerging brands to band together and reach a wider audience.
THE POP UP GIRLS is more than e-commerce shop - it is a support network of like-minded, globally conscious, creative women who aren’t afraid of a hustle and pushing boundaries. We are stronger (and louder!) together.
